Donations of $10.00 for families and $5.00 for individuals are being requested with 100 hundred percent of the proceeds going to Hospice Caring, Inc., the only non-profit volunteer hospice organization in Montgomery County, Maryland. The house-shaped maze will be open on weekends from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting. After finding their way through the corn maze, visitors can vote on four different designs for next year’s event.
Hospice Caring has been providing free non-medical hospice services and bereavement programs to terminally ill patients and their families since 1989. The organization has more than 2,600 trained volunteers providing services in homes, hospitals, and nursing homes.
Maize Quest, a New Park, Pennsylvania company will construct the maze. According to Hugh McPherson, Creator and Developer of Maize Quest, "Corn mazes are the best way to create a living work of art people can explore and master from the inside out. You're shielded from reality in the corn maze. You have only two tasks: collect and escape." McPherson began Maize Quest on his farm in York County, Pennsylvania in 1997. The company now includes franchise operations in Canada and throughout the United States.
